The next academy open day takes place on Friday, 28 November from 4pm to 6pm at the YMCA Newark campus. This event focuses on the football and netball pathways. It gives students and families a direct look at how the academy operates, how training is delivered and how the education pathway supports progression into university and employment.
What to Expect
Visitors will be shown the full campus environment including classrooms, indoor training areas and the facilities used daily by academy students. Staff from both coaching and education will be available to explain how the programme works from the inside. This includes how the timetable is structured, how training and study connect and the standards expected from students who join the academy.
Football and netball coaches will run short practical demonstrations so visitors can see the style of coaching, session flow and development work that takes place every week. These sessions are designed to give a realistic view of the programme rather than a staged showcase.
Why Attend
The open day is the simplest way to understand whether the academy is the right fit. Students can see the environment they will train and study in, speak directly with staff and get clear information on the education pathway including UCAS progression, higher national study and future employment routes.
Families will also be able to discuss expectations, daily routines, support structures and the commitment required to progress through the programme. This transparency helps students make informed decisions before applying.
Who Should Come
This event is aimed at students interested in joining the football or netball pathway in the next intake. Anyone considering the BTEC Level 3 in Sports Coaching and Development or the future HNC and HND routes will benefit from attending.
